More than half of the number were caused by phthisis (consumption) and general paralysis of the insane. N 0 less than thirteen were from phthisis alone. This disease always occupies a prominent place in the death list of hospitals for the insane Where proper post mortem investigation makes evident some of the ravages of tubercle, not always discovered before death.
