Description

This book will introduce you to the world of medical technology and explore how to gain financial freedom, health and better relationships as a medical technologist and technical trainer. This book caters to learners interested in medical technology and laboratory medicine, students and interns already enrolled in Biomedical Technology, qualified medical technologists already in the field who want to expand their careers as well as investors and the general public who are curious about the field and are ready to invest in medical technology. The simplicity of this book is intentional to allow anyone to breakdown an already complex environment into meaningful and simple terms. This serves to the knowledge bank and will hopefully create and build awareness around this amazing but almost private field of laboratory medicine. You will discover and get familiar with the healthcare environment and its unsung heroes. Medical technology is plays an important role in the global economy, the global public health management and the entire healthcare system would crumble without this core backbone of the healthcare ecosystem. In South Africa and other developing countries medical technology offers a greater opportunity in investment and business opportunities for our families and investors. Developed country have access to the latest advancements, which do not all come cheap. We have an opportunity to ensure that our communuties that are so overwhelmed non-communicable diseases like TB, hypertension, HIV/Aids and Obesity to name a few, are identified, diagnosed, treated and managed correctly by delivering a good quality service which will be in my opinion a combination of both advanced laboratory and point of care. My hypothesis is that a cocktail of these two will allow for better management of the under-priviledged and previously disadvantaged communities that may also have immuno-compromised people that may not necessarily afford paid healthcare and may result in an overburdened public healthcare system. This can be researched and proven either way but that is my hypothesis. My hope for this book is that the African child and global community can see an opportunity to be involved and own their health. Your health is in your hands. Know your numbers.
