About Dana Furgerson

Dana was born in Chicago, Illinois, but along with her four brothers was raised in Lombard, a suburb. She currently lives in Eugene, Oregon, with her cat Daisy, her dog Hank, and her six chickens. She has lived in various places throughout the state in both rural and urban settings. Her son, Keith, teaches art, and her daughter-in-law, Alissa, is a cartographer. She has two granddaughters, Dahlia and Hazel. She taught special education for over thirty years. For the most part, her students were at risk high school age youth, mostly boys, whose troubled lives inspired two novels. She has also written three novels and two collections of short stories about relationships and other contemporary issues. Dana runs or walks every day. In the winter she cross-country skis, and in the summer she backpacks and hikes the wilderness of the Cascades. She's an avid gardener. Her other artistic outlets are drawing and more
