In announcing their arrangements for the coming season they say: ' We have now in process of construction 38 additional sizes and varieties of new patterns. Many of them are nearly completed, and all of them will be ready in ample time for the coming season's trade. We thus add to our present large assortment 97 additional patterns, which increase our line to 465 different styles and varieties, also adding to our producing capacity one more large, perfectly arranged and entirely new foundry, and think that now our facilities for producing stoves are unparalleled on this continent." The officers of the company are: M. B. Clark, president; W. B. Baldwin, general manager, and Thomas Helm, manager of the St. Louis Branch. The Japanese department at the Paris International Exhibition is to be made very attractive, if we may judge from the accounts published in foreign papers. The department is under the charge of a Japanese gentleman who, during a residence of nine years in France, has thoroughly studied the subject of the exchanges which may be advantageously carried on between that country and Japan. On returning home M. Maeda formed a national school of agriculture at Jeddo. On this estate European trees and plants are cultivated, and the vine and beetroot have already been grown with profit.
