He says that his orders for soapstone facings for use in foundries are far ahead of his facilities, and that he is compelled to commence the construction of additional machinery. From parties to whom he had sent small samples of the crayons for machinists' and other metal workers' use, he has received orders for full supplies for the season's trade. For rough drafting on floors or on any rough surface they are durable, convenient, cheap and pleasant to handle. ii.. Mr. J. E. Hull, of Cincinnati, manufac-' turer of cornice brakes, drill presses and other metal workers' machines, has added to his works a very large room, which is being supplied with machinery. This will; greatly increase his facilities and give him a capacious frontage on Pearl street. In consequence of an accident which resulted inf the bursting of a large grindstone in Mr. 1 Hull's grinding department, the operations of his works were partially suspended, but From one of our English exchanges we clip the following: So much attention has of late years been directed to the more important metals, iron and steel, owing to recent discoveries in their treatment exciting attention throughout the whole metallurgical world, that the minor metals----of which tin is one--have to some extent been kept in the background.
