Sanctuary celebrates the passion and commitment of New Zealanders to wildlife conservation. The ten protected areas featured include scientific reserves, wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. They have been chosen for their uniqueness and accessibility. Sanctuary tells the stories of these special places and the animals and plants that make them distinctive. From Cape Reinga to Ulva Island, this book pays tribute to those who have preserved these inspiring parts of our country for all of us. Sanctuary is dedicated to some of New Zealand's most beautiful areas and the history and ecology that are ours alone.
