Review Text

At first Robert's parents don't believe that he can write, fly, and walk a tightrope with his magic string. Then his father, who has borrowed it for a shoelace, finds himself on TV when the string trips some would-be bank robbers. After that the family is visited by musicians and a five-star general who want to buy the string and a capitalist who wants to - well, capitalize on it; but Robert's pet canary foils them all by swallowing the contested property. The fact that the whole cast is made up of hippopotami dressed in pink doesn't make the premise any more original, but this - and the various forms that the bright red string assumes - does make it more fun than all those jaunty educational Adventures With a String - and probably just as mind stretching.
