Description

This delightful collection of poems for children has a wide range of subjects. The first poem, 'The Word Wizard', tells us all to put our wizard hats on, catch the spinning words and write them down. Thus, the young readers are involved from the outset. Some poems could be sung or even danced! The second poem, 'Sunrise', could inspire a painting. These poems which include the natural world, ancient tales of adventure, nonsense type poems, will all stretch the imaginations of their young readers, their parents and teachers. 'Talking with Dancing Hands' is especially poignant. There is something for everyone here and this fun, uplifting and heartfelt collection is greatly to be recommended.

About Steve Almy

I live in Devon and I am very lucky to have the moors and the sea nearby, which have inspired many of my rhymes. I live with Diane, my partner, and we have a cat called B and a dog, called Charlie, which we rescued and who never stops wagging his tail. I wrote about this in 'The Tail of the Waggy Dog'. A lot of my work for many years has been with Deaf people, communicating in their wonderful language of Sign Language which I hope comes across in my poem, 'Talking with Dancing Hands'.
