The Collector, who is also a Magistrate, proposes to strengthen the Police Force by the Addition of One Jemadar at 10 Rupees and Fifteen Burkundauzes at 4 Rupees per Mensem each. 24. The present Establishment consists of One Darogah, Four Jemadars, and Thirty-two Burkundauzes. I have never seen one of the large Festivals, but this appears to me a small Complement of Men to maintain Peace and Order at the Period of the popular Festivals. At the Car Festival the Collector informs me the Number of Pilgrims and Spectators is about 100,000. 25. Our best Guarantee of the Sufficiency of the Force is, that it is of the Strength proposed by that experienced Officer Mr. Wilkinson.
