C., Thursday, August 4th, 1910 There seems to be a determined purpose on the part of those in charge to live up to the contract made with the original Lessees, the Howland Improvement Company. Three suits for damages for personal in'j aries have been entered in the Superior Court of Wayne County against your Company since your last annual meeting. I cannot give you a statement of the amounts claimed in said suits for the reason that they have not been called up in open court yet. The Lessees have been notified of said suits as per requirement in contract of Lease, so they can arrange for defending in said suits, they being responsible and not your Company. The deposit made by Lessee to safeguard the inter est of your Company as per stipulation in Lease, con sists of Eighty North Carolina construction bonds bearing interest at 6 per cent. Per annum and due in 1919, in denominations of One Thousand Dollars each, and Two (2) Union Passenger Station.
