The works required will be exhibited according to the space available for the purpose; but in any case, works receiving medals will be exhibited. 161. The number of works prescribed for transmission must not be exceeded. 162. The imperial sheet, i. e. 29 in. x 214 in. either whole, or in halves or quarters, should be the size of all works, whether drawn or painted, and this size must be strictly attended to, since it has been determined to provide frames for the exhibition of works in London, and for their transmission for exhibition of the Local Schools; all canvasses used also should be half imperial size, viz.. 214 in. x 14J in. or imperial size, viz. 29 in. x 21 in. Models should be backed out as lightly as possible consistently with safety; all round figures kept to the size already stated, and models from the life selected for exhibition, should as far as possible be thosn treated in low relief, as round figures are more liable to injury in transit. ExhibiTion Of Students Works. Appendix C. 163. Works glazed cannot be exhibited. 164. All works must have a printed label, which will be supplied by the Department, neatly filled in and carefully attached. 165. Masters are particularly required to observe the rules laid down, and to adopt the standard examples prescribed. 166. Works to which prizes are awarded will probably be reserved for six months by the Department, in order that they may be exhibited in a limited number of provincial schools of art; such schools will be selected as make application to receive them, and adequate preparations for exhibiting them to the public.
