That in the month of July, eighteen hundred and forty-four, Don Mariano Parra was roprietor prefect of Rio Verde and resigned, on account of illness, on tlie third of the same month, there being substituted in his place Don Santiago G. Pacheco, who filled the office of prefect during all the month of September of the said year, as is proved by the three original documents marked with the numbers five, six and seven, which, with the previous consent of the governor, are now exhibited, and were taken from the archives of the secretary's department, and correspond to the dates contained in them. And answers to the--7th. That the documents he has exhibited, and the relation of facts that he has made, is all that he knows respecting this business, upon which he would say more if he knew more. And answers to the 8th. That in the State there is a municipality comprehended within the department and township (partido) of Rio Verde, called Lagunillas, and except this one there is no other of the same name, as is proved by the report (mt-maria) presented to the legislature of the State in the year eighteen hundred and forty-nine; that respecting the point whether the mountainous district, called the Huasteca, enter or touch the munici pality of Lagunillas, he has not the necessary knowledge to answer positively. That, in regard to the limits of the municipality of Lagunillas, . there is never any question with the adjoining municipalities, and those that are recognized by the local authorities of that point are the same which are recognized by the government of the State, of the order of which the deponent exhibits a pamphlet...show more
