To the Board of Education: I herewith respectfully present for your consideration the Thirty-third Annual Report of the schools of the city of Savannah and the county of Chatham. A consolidated statistical report in tabular form hereto attached exhibits the most important facts concerning all the schools, from which deductions may be drawn touching the general school work, and the results of the past year compared with those of other years. In making these comparisons and deductions it should be remembered, that for economic reasons, the Board one year ago took several steps along the line of retrenchment which had the effect of diminishing the attendance as well as the expenses of the schools.
