Excerpt: ...for several hours, resulting in the adoption of the following resolution: Resolved that the sum of $166.66 be appropriated from the funds of the Iowa State Horticultural Society, to be used as salary for Prof. S. A. Beach, as Superintendent of Experiment stations and for experimental work. on condition that he is secured by the college as Professor of Horticulture; and provided also, that definite and ample grounds on the College farm be set aside for experimental work of this Society, and that he do experimental work for this Society as such Superintendent. It is understood that the above salary is to begin September 1st, 1905, being at the rate of $500 per annum. Upon motion, the following experiment stations were discontinued: The staiion at Waukee, the one at Des Moines, and the one at Cedar Falls. Upon motion, in view of the resignation as station keeper by Abner Branson, a station was established at Williamsburg, Iowa county, and F. O. Harrington placed in charge. The business of the session having been completed, the Board adjourned. ' Nora: There was a special session of the Board on August 25, 1904, at which $500 was placed at the disposal of the executive committee to maintain the fruit exhibit at the St. Louis Exposition, if needed for that purpose; but suflicient fruit was obtained without using any of the appropriation.
