The school has expended from its own funds 3/. 15s. on account of examples, besides the local expenses for rent, cleaning, firing, lighting, printing, &c. The annual inspection and public examination took place in May. An exhibition of the students' works took place, and was attended by about 1,600 visitors. The amount of aid afforded to the school by the Department has been 120/. 13s. 2d., which sum includes the payments for the master's certificates and other allowances, the payments to Art pupil-teachers, also the grants on account of the children who obtained rewards, aid in the purchase of examples, the cost of medals, medallion, &c. TRURO.--(Population in 1851--12,000.) Established in 1853, It is held in River Street, The officers of the committee of management are: --Charles Barham, Chairman. Thomas Solomon, Secretary. Richard Griffiths, Head-Master; 2 certificates. George Petherick is the pupil-teacher. The total number receiving instruction in drawing in or through the agency of the school during 1860 has been 356, showing a total increase of 92 since last year. This number includes 28/ children of public schools, paying 30/.; 25 students of private schools, paying 26/.; 9 school-teachers and pupil-teachers, paying 1/. Is.; and 35 students who have attended the Central School, from whom 11/. 5s. 6d. has been received. The total amount of fees has been 68/. 6s. 6rf., showing an increase of 18/. 13s. 10rf. over the sum received last year. The attendance at the classes has been: --Day classes--6 students, who have paid 5. and 6s. per month; total, 8/. Evening classes--29 students, who have paid Is. to 3s. per month.
