Sec. 58o.--The village secretary shall have custody of the books, records, and papers of the village, and of all oflicial reports and comunications to the village council. He shall act as secretary of the village council and of any village boards created by this chapter or which may subsequently be created. He shall keep a record of the proceedings of each session of the village cou11cil and of all village ordinances that may be passed. He shall also keep a correct account of all orders drawn on the treasury of the village, showing the persons to whom and the fund from which the amount of such order is to be paid. He shall at all reasonable hours, on demand of any person, produce for inspection the books, records and papers of his oflice, and shall furnish a copy of any portion thereof, certified in the proper form, to be read in evidence, upon the payment of such fees as may be established by ordinance. All such fees shall be paid into the village treasury. VILLAGE TREASURER Sec. 5a'.--In each village organized under this chapter there shall be a village treasurer elected by the qualified voters of the village at the same time as the election of the village president and council. He shall possess the qualifications required of members of the village council and shall hold office for a period of two years and until his successor is elected and qualified. In case of a vacancy in the oflice of village treasurer, the village council shall, within ten (10) days, fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term.
