Releasing the Chains The author, Dr. Yvette Taylor-Kanarick PhD, is a survivor of domestic violence and abuse. She combines her personal experience with her training in clinical-neuropsychology and as a historian to present a novel approach to understanding, analyzing and interpreting domestic violence and abuse. The natural instinct of humans is to protect oneself and family. Intimate partner, domestic, family and child abuse and violence is unnatural, irrational dysfunctional behavior which is contrary to natural instinctive behavior. Both perpetrators and victims are acting in an unnatural way. This is rooted in the unconscious and subconscious groundwork that are laid in the brain beginning from the womb. This unconscious process is as much as twelve times more powerful and it limits both abusers' and victims' ability to change. The author explores the connections between the three brain regions, interconnectivity with the electromagnetic field, the laws of attraction, generational and environmental influences on abuse and violence. This model integrates a wide range of all the components that go into intimate partner violence and abuse. It is based on scientific research, attachment theories and relates these to spirituality and religion within the context of soul ties and bonding. This novel approach to abuse and violence in proximity relationships provides answers for both the victim and perpetrator. It bridges the deficiency gap in existing models and approach to understanding and addressing abuse and more
