A sniper launches a series of deadly attacks on Britain's motorways, striking in the dark during rush hour and causing total carnage. No one knows who he is, or why he's doing it, but, as the death toll rises, fear grips the entire nation. It's up to DCI Jeff Temple of the Major Investigations Team to bring the killing spree to an end but, as he closes in on the sniper, Temple makes a shocking discovery about the motive behind the attacks. A ghastly precedent has been set and Temple soon realizes that in future anyone who drives on Britain's motorways risks becoming a random target.show more

Review quote

'It's the wider focus which separates a low-level thriller from something truly outstanding; and in this case Random Targets fits the bill of 'extraordinary'... a gripping thriller.' Midwest Book Review 'James Raven addresses the archaic human need to understand. He sadistically taps into our fear of the unknown ... We enter this world through smoke and fire and we are greeted by chaos and a mass of confused and wounded people.' 'Buckle up and prepare to be gripped in this latest fast-paced, edge-of-your seat offering from James Raven.' Take Five / Reading with Waterstones 'James Raven's Random Targets is a crime mystery that gripped my attention and didn't let go from the accident in the beginning to the fitting ending. The characters feel real; they are flawed, caring, scared, and keep growing along with the intensity of the novel...it was the characters that had me mesmerised and turning pages as much as the suspense of the mystery.' Luxuryreading.com 'This is the first book I have read by James Raven and he certainly knows how to rack up the tension. I was gripped from the first page and the action never let up. A thoroughly satisfying read, and one that remains with you long after you have closed the book...For lovers of a fast paced action thriller this is a must read.' Mystery People 'I would recommend this author and these books to any crime lover, I am so happy I have had the pleasure of reading James's work.' Crime Book Club 'The way the book is written, it keeps you captivated; it's very difficult to put the book down' ... 'The book comes highly recommended and is a must read!'
