Bridges. The Duluth & Northeastern Ry. is planning to build a timber bridge, 1,400 feet long, 18 feet wide, over the St. Louis river, at Posey Island, at a cost of about $45,000. The Wichita Falls & Southern Ry. has awarded contracts for the grade and bridge work upon its proposed extension from Newcastle to Graham, Tex. Iron and Steel. The Chicago Rock Island & Pacific Ry. is expected to close this week for 6,000 tons of tieplates. The Chicago Union Station Co. has awarded a contract for steel required in the construction of the New Chicago railway mail terminal, involving 6,000 tons to the Chicago Foundation Co., and 420 tons of structural material for use in the construction of the Madison street viaduct, also 320 tons to lc used in the widening of Canal street in Chicago. Germany will supply 30,000 tons of heavy rails for North Africa at about $31 per ton, f. o. b. continental ports. The Louisville & Nashville R. R. has ordered 9,000 tons of plates from the American Car & Foundry' Co. The Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Ry. is in the market for from 1.400 to 1,500 kegs of standard spikes. Machinery and Tools. The Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Ry. is in the market for one 250-ton overhead traveling crane, three 15-ton cranes, one five-ton crane and a five-ton monorail hoist for the same place. The Bangor & Aroostook R. R. has ordered a 120-ton wrecking crane-from the Industrial Works, Chicago. The Boston & Albany R.
