Not illustrated. 1908 edition. Excerpt: ...George A. Varburton, then Secretary of the Railroad Associations in New York City, in whose fertile mind the idea originated. After free and thoughtful discussion by those present it was unanimously decided to form such a Federation whose purpose should be to promote the work of the Railroad Young Men's Christian Associations among the employees of the New York Central Lines, to strengthen the relations between the Associations and the relation of the Associations with contributing companies. A committee was appointed to draft by-laws which were later adopted. A Provisional Executive Committee was selected after which the meeting adjourned. Among the by-laws adopted was one to the effect that any Railroad Association doing work among New York Central employees and deriving any support from any company included in the New York Central Lines, might become a vice; has attended several Federation meetings, and has ever been ready with counsel and assistance. Hr. J. K. Russell, Division Superintendent of the Lake Shore, has from the first been an eflicient vice-chairman. and with these gentlemen have been associated General Manager ohnst0n of the Nickel Plate;. B. Yohe, General Manager of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie; Assistant General Managers Crowley and Hardin of the New York Central; J. H. Hustis of the Boston and Albany, and H. A.-Vorcester of the Big Four; C. S. Rhoads, Superintendent Telegraph, Big Four, and E. H. Millington holding similar oflfice with the Michigan Central.
