Identity is becoming a new concept in America, and in the world. Not just racial, but gender identity, and the discussion that goes along with it. As for Rachel Dolezal, does it matter if she's black or white? Some people choose their own religion; why can't she have the freedom to decide who she is. Let's also try to consider the reasons and try to understand her. Why does she identify with the plight of black people? What about her personal life caused this. Dolezal has said she has felt "black" since she was five years old, and has made it her life-long work. Speaking of, has the media discussed what she has done, how she has served her community? As Dolezal has said herself, "I do take exception to that, because it's a little more complex than me identifying as black, or answering a question of, 'Are you black or white?'" she said. Surely this can't be the first time a person this has been done. Maybe her appearance was an experiment. A sort of "Day in the Life" of a black woman, but with lighter skin. There are African-Americans with lighter skin than some Caucasian people, so is it really about color? Is it identity?show more
