This, at any rate, proves the interest they have excited in the minds of men. It is only in our own day that literature and science, not less. than poetry and religion, have been directed thither with perfect enthusiasm. To no one man are we so m h indebted for the popular feeling in favour of the Great Pyramid, as to Prof. Piazzi Smyth. By making it truly holy ground, by demonstrating, to the satisfaction of many, the divine authorship of the institution, he has surrounded it with a halo it never wore before.
