On April 2nd, 1468, Mr. George Wandesford was ordained subdeacon, St. Mary's abbey, York, giving him a. title. (Reg. Geo. Neville, i.) He is said, erroneously, in the pedigrees of the family, to have been archdeacon of Richmond. On May 28th, 1491, Ralph Wandesford, alias Northende, rector of Kirklington, was ordained subdeacon; deacon on 24th Sep., and priest on 17th December. (Reg. Rotherharn.) He was probably an illegitimate son of one of the Wandesfords. 1' The testator was instituted to the rectory of Laxton, N otts, on Sep. 13th, 1465, exchanging for it, with Thomas Tanfield, the mastership of the hospital B. M. Magd. at Ripon. (Reg. Neville, i. 33cents.) ' I A kinsman of archbishop Booth, who was archdeacon of Nottingham, canon of Lincoln and Ripon, and rector of Varrington. He died in 1476. Another Lancashire man, who held a multitude of oflices in church and state. I know what they were, but the list is so large that it would be tedious to go through it here. He died in 1499. LX.
