Not illustrated. 1915 edition. Excerpt: ...complaint was made by Representative Stebbins of Dawson county against the Gothenburg (Neb.) Telephone Co. for its manner of inserting advertising in the directory published by it. The complaint stated that the advertisements were inserted in the center of the pages and thus the names were separated and, according to the complaint, made it difficult to find the names needed. The order comes as an agreement entered into and specifies that advertisements may be placed at the top and bottom of pages not to exceed one inch in depth so that the names of subscribers all appear together on the page. The same rate must be charged by the Norman (Okla.) Telephone Co. for a desk telephone as for a wall telephone, according to an order recently issued by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. It is pointed out that the cost of maintaining a desk telephone is so little more than for a wall telephone that there is no reason in making a higher rate for one than the other. The telephone company is also required to improve its service, as complaints have been received by the commission from a number of subscribers in Norman that the service rendered them is unsatisfactory. To Follow Up Complaints The Public Service Commission for the First District, New York, has directed its secretary to notify all public service corporations that failure upon their part to respond promptly to letters from the secretary in regard to informal complaints will be deemed sufficient reason for the iiistitutioii of formal proceedings requiring the attendance of the officers of the companies at the commission's oflice.
