A similar connexion may perhaps be found in our verb "flash" (cf. Swiss flaetschcn "to splash" and flaetsgen "to blaze"). Freed from shame: lit. "can in no way be shamed." The negative al implies that this result "shall not and cannot be," Del. Or rather perhaps al loses altogether its precative force, and is really equivalent to 3 bal "not at all." 6. The 6th verse in this acrostic Psalm, as in Psalm xxv., begins with the 7th letter t. Here as there we may perhaps suppose the letter 1 to be represented by the second hemist. of the 5th verse: see xxv. 6, note. 7. "The angel of the Lord" (H. n1!T "pOD) possibly denotes the Being who was the'channel of communication between Jehovah Himself and men of old, "the angel1 who delivered" Jacob from all evil (Gen. xlviii. 16), "the angel sent before Israel to 'keep them in the 1 Schoettgen in his Horae Hebraicae states that this angel is identified by the Targum of Onkelos and Jerusalem Targum in loco with the "Verbum Domini.' Those who are acquainted with the character of the Horae Hebraicae (see cx. Appendix) will not be surprised to hear that there is no basis for this statement in either Targum. good: more
