With regard to Denney, he was able to state that the frater was certainly her work, also the responds of the quire now standing. Sir hercules read referred to a phrase in the paper that seemed to imply the artistic inferiority of England in the Countess's day. A review of the surviving works dating from the period 1300 - 1375 would reveal a high standard, whether in seal-cutting, architecture, painting, miniature-painting, or carving.
