I have to state in regard to the Essay of Mr. Matthew Hale, upon " Illegal and Erroneous Taxation and its Remedies," that it has been prepared and Mr. Hale, intended to be here to read it to the Association, but unavoidable detention at Schenectady made it impossible for him to be present. The Essay is as follows: ILLEGAL AND ERRONEOUS TAXATION AND ITS REMEDIES. The statutes of this State contemplate an uniform and equal taxation of all property, real and personal.
