Excerpt: ...of Assistants concur, ) That the Comptroller be instructed to postpone the sale of the Bellevue property, which is advertised to take place on the lst of April, until the 2Uth of April, in order to give time for arrangements for placing a fence round Stuyvesant Square, and otherwise to improve said square according to a resolution of the Common Council passed in May, 1836. Which was on motion referred to the Finance Committee with power, and directed to be sent to the Board of Assistants for concurrence. Alderman Mott presented the following resolution, which was adopted, viz.: Resolved, (if the Board of Assistants concur, ) That Reuben Ayres be and he is hereby appointed Inspector of Election in Second District, Ninth Ward, in place of Peter E. Coon, resigned. And the same was directed to be sent to the Board of Assistants for concurrence. The President presented the following resolution, viz.: Resolved, (if the Board of Assistants concur, ) That an application be made to the Legislature for an act to require all the expenses of the trial of Polly otherwise called Mary Bodine, to be charged upon the County of Richmond, and to protect the City of New-York therefrom, and that the Clerk forward the same, properly authenticated. Which was adopted, and directed to be sent to the Board of Assistants for concurrence. Alderman Hasbrouck stated that a vacancy existed in the Special Committee, under the resolution presented by him to the Board December 30, 1844, in relation to inquiring into the facts of convicts being hired out to private individuals on Blackwell's Island, &c., and moved the same be filed.
