Not illustrated. 1901 edition. Excerpt: ...This preparation stands well. I also sweetened it with solution of saccharin and flavored it with fresh oil of sweet orange. The following is the formula: --Oil Orange, fresh........................................... 2 cc. Solution of Saccharin--N. F............................. 10 cc. Water a sufliclent quantity to make......................1000 cc. Proceed as in above formula--or rub the mixed liquids (oily) with the gums and add all at once 215 cc. of water and rub till perfectly emulsified, then dilute with rest of water and add solution of saccharin. The orange oil should be dissolved in the almond oil and petrola tum before adding to the gum. The question I would like for our Association to answer me this morning is, which of the two preparations do you prefer? If desired, combinations with hypophosphites can be made by merely dissolving the salts in water and mixing just as in the codliver oil preparations. LIQUOR ANTISEPTICUS. A sample of this preparation is here for inspection. It is to find a wide use in place of many other proprietary articles of its kind. I believe this formula, as also the gentian tonic formula, were devised by Professor W. L. Scoville after much patient work and experimentation and it strikes me is about what is desired. Some think the colora trifle deep but otherwise I have heard no criticism of an adverse nature. 5. Euxm CINCHONA. A new formula is adopted for this preparation--making it from the chief cinchona alkaloids. _ It is intended to answer all purposes of the present elixir of cinchona, elixir of cinchona detaunated, more
