Description

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1918 edition. Excerpt: ... a case as an illustration. About, or nearly three years ago, a woman 67 years of age came to my office with a very large uterus, the cervix very much enlarged, congested and prolapsed, so that the entire cervix was involved, erosion and sloughing. It looked very suspicious of cancer, and yet I did not think it was. She was treated with the Kromayer lamp during a period of about three months, at the end of which time the uterus was up in the pelvis, the sloughing had disappeared and the cervix was entirely healed. All signs of erosion were gone. The uterus was reduced not only to the size of a normal uterus of a multipara woman, but practically to the size of the virgin uterus. One of the experiments was to take a photographic film, cover it over with something that was impervious to light, cover up the man, all but the shoulder and expose the shoulder to the ultra-violet light.
