Excerpt: ...because the old line rock'ribbed institutions, with their herita e of conservatism in the old days, naturally refused to go into the little villages and hamlets, and insure against loss by fire, unless there was adequate fire protection. So, the merchants and residen-ts of those little villages and-hamlets, pooled their interests and united to safeguard theme selves by insuring themselves against the bosses that they naturally would suffer from their fire hazard. As I see it, that's the ground work of mutual fire insurance. So, as I look at you this morning and see the notable exec' utives assembled here, I am impressed with-the permanency of mutual fire insurance as an institution. And, on behalf of the citizens of Covington, and of my official family, I want to say to you that the latch string of the City of Covington is out and the hospitality of the City is yours to enjoy to the fullest extent. I also wish to extend to you our very best wishes for a successful convention and a prosperous business cycle to follow. MR. HARRY T.
