Description

This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1919 edition. Excerpt: ...the original designs by William Caslon I. Other Linotype faces, mention of which herein is timely, are Old Style No. 7, previously announced, and meeting with deserved approbation; and, either ready or soon to be, a true Old Style, following the Miller & Richards original, from which Franklin Old Style, Binny, and all other acceptable modern Old Styles have been copied; and a Cloister Black, following the Caslon face. Showings of decorative material to follow those of the type-families scheduled to appear in the May, July, and September issues of The Linotype Bulletin include Adam, Benedictine, Modern, Louis XV, Scotch, and Gothic. Still others will be similarly exhibited as they are produced; and each series will have its complement of initials, borders, head and tail pieces, and other co-related units, specially created to harmonize, in the form of Linotype...show more
