Our customer reviews

Whilst this one didn't grab me as much as its predecessor, The Power of Six was still a fast paced, action-filled read. Instead of mainly focusing on Number Four, John Smith, this book alternates between two points of view - Four and the newly introduced Number Seven, Marina. The relationship between Sam, Four and Six progressed quite a lot and it was interesting to read. I did, however, feel as though Four was being a little selfish in this one and knowingly put himself and his friends in danger, which did annoy me. It was good for the story though as it allowed for more action scenes between the Lorics and the Mogadorians. Marina and her story didn't particularly engage me until half the way through - I was much more interested in John/Four. I found that after around the half way point everything became a lot more exciting - it did take me a while to really get into this. Although I'm not often a fan of a lot of action, I feel that these books have it well balanced out - there are battle scenes that flow well into the storyline and are not overdone. There is a sense of foreboding that mounts up and also a slight bit of mystery. I thought that the introduction of a Number Nine was a little unfair, but it looks as though we'll find out more in The Rise of Nine which I do plan on more
