Not illustrated. 1908 edition. Excerpt: ...the expert ropers whom show work has made famous. Such men as Sam Garrett and Chester A. Byers--holders of many trick and fancy roping championships--have used it for years. Their choice of Plymouth Rope is typical of its standing among cattlemen in general. Byers is now with Miller Bros. and Arlington's 101 Ranch Real Wild West. It was not surprising, therefore, that, when this show visited Plymouth early in June, Byers and his fellow ropers--Durnell, Kirwin, Gray, and the rest--laid in a good stock of Plymouth Yacht Lariat Rope. This grade of rope, we will explain for the benefit of the uninitiated, makes a finer lariat in every way than our regular Manila Lariat Rope. It contains strictly handselected fibers--from grades of which we purchase nearly the entire world's supply, possesses a beautiful silky finish, is very easy on the hands, extra hard laid, and extra strong. The 101 Ranch Show, like many others--notably Barnum and Bailey's----also uses Plymouth Rope for all general purposes, including tent rigging. Hagenbuck and Wallace's new $7500 tent is another of those rigged with Plymouth. You go to the circus and Wild West primarily for amusement, but you can also learn facts that mean money from these showmen. For them the show is a business, and among other things they know the value of good rope. W 5 MAKING PLYMOUTH ROPE PERFORM. MILLER BROS. & ARLINGTON'S Io1 RANCH REAL WILD WEST I, 2, 5 AND 6. CHESTER A. BYERS, WORLD'S CHAMPION TRICK AND FANCY ROPER 3 AND 4. HANK DURNELL, TRICK AND FANCY ROPER 7. RAISING THE SIDE SHOW TENT THE STEEPLE-JACK KNOWS VERY now and then we get proof that wherever an important job aloft is in progress the chances are the rope is Plymouth. This is such a case. more
