Review Text

The Roller family, Arthy, Jem and Gravella, bake the finest pies in Danby Dale, so naturally they are overjoyed when they are chosen to make a pie for the king. However, jealous Uncle Crispin, also a piemaker, gives them his royal recipe, which they follow with disastrous results. This was Cresswell's first children's book and was nominated for the Carnegie Medal. It is also an excellent choice to read aloud to a slightly younger age group. (7-10 yrs) (Kirkus UK)show more
