Excerpt: ... fifteen minutes afforded him such relief that he stepped from the insulating platform and walked across the room; and flexion and lateral movements of the trunk upon the hips gave him no pain. He could bend over and pick up articles from the floor. He came the next day, walking over one mile with one crutch and a cane. The pain had returned to a slight degree, with considerable loss of movement at the hip joints. These disappeared with the second treatment, which was considerable stronger than the first, as he had less fear of the spark and was more tolerant to its application. With this treatment all pain and stiffness again disappeared. He appeared the third day walking with a cane, and had had no return of the pain, but felt a weakness in his left hip. He did not appear again until the eighth day. The pain and weakness had returned to a slight degree; but was relieved by a mild treatment. He received his fourth and last treatment on the next day. He worked all spring in his brewery, and to my knowledge has had no return of his trouble. FEEBLE HEART AND GENERAL DEBILITY. Case III.--Miss M. M., age twenty-four, small, slight figure. Had always been well and strong until a fall produced disease of coccyx; general health became impaired; heart weak and irregular; loss of consciousness of frequent occurrence, with slight tetanus; condition was not materially improved, by removal of coccyx; had received treatment from several physicians without benefit. When examined in November, 1887, the patient was found anaemic, weak, pulse one hundred and twenty, and irregular; digestion poor; extreme constipation; attacks of unconsciousness almost daily.
