Horticultural Photography is to be. as announced a few months ago, an important section of the Glasgow and West of Scotland Horticultural Society's Exhibition in St. Andrew's Hall, Glasgow, on the 6th and 7th of this month. The photographic side of the exhibition of the Agricultural and Horticultural Association, Limited, which was held at the Crystal Palace during August proved a very great success indeed, the entries being over 1,000, as compared with some 400 last year. This year, for the first time, a separate section was provided for pictures which were to be judged for their photographic qualities and the judges. E. Zambra and H. Snowden Ward, had very considerable difficulty in making the awards In many cases the difficulty was overcome by giving extra awards in addition to those announced in the prospectus. Perhaps the most interesting section in the show was that devoted to photograms of railway gardening, in which a great deal of interest had been taken by the traffic managers of more than one of the large railway companies. One or two examples of the best work in the exhibition will be reproduced in Photograms of tinYear, 1899.
