The Path Out of Anxiety : Based on 'The Pilgrims Progress' by John Bunyan.
It often appears to many Christians, when in an anxiety state, that God has forsaken them or that they are being punished for some sin or fault relating to their faith. This book points out that this is far from true and that it is a sickness of the Spirit that is the problem. The psychosomatic approach to nervous illness, body and mind, is not enough for a person who has faith. The Spiritual element has to be addressed. It is suggested that a reawakening of the Spirit by the study of the real meaning of the words of Christ can give relief and restore faith. A superficial understanding is not of much use, but esoteric understanding can be a powerful tool. This book is based on 'The Pilgrims Progress' by John Bunyan. He explored throughout his book the possibility of travelling along a Path to the' Celestial City' or, as suggested here, peace of mind or the finding of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. This is a religious book, but even those without faith may be able to gain something from it as it explores all aspects of the symptoms of anxiety.show more
