During the year 1910 the British Patent Office received 30,388 applications for patents, and sealed 16,643 patents. The applications were divided among the various countries as follows: Great Britain and Possessions, 21,668; Germany, 3,221; United States, 2,818; France, 1,075; a" other countries, 1,606. We are informed that according to the latest decisions of the patent and trade mark authorities of Bolivia, trade mark applications for that country are required to specify the dimensions and colors used in every mark that consists of labels or typical designs. Bolivia. PATENTS.--Working. Deposit of Guarantee. The Patents and Trade Marks Office has recently ruled that hereafter the amount which is required by law to be deposited as a guarantee of the wording of the patent must be deposited immediately upon receipt of the official notice of the grant of the patent. Under this ruling, it is necessary that foreign applicants forward the amount required with the patent application in order to prevent the possibility of the patent lapsing for want of timely payment of the guarantee.
