How can we have so clear a view of faith, producing works, as by studying the life of the patriarch Abraham? Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for right eousness. This faith enabled him, in pur pose, to Offer up his son Isaac as a burnt Offering. In the records of the lives Of Isaac and Jacob, the same traits are conspicuous. These and Others all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims.
