From the close by Gypsy camp women find him. They take advantage of him to refresh the Gitano race, since they are inbred. Pierre gets twenty women pregnant, some of the babies born show the symptoms of syphilis. Gypsy men want to kill Pierre, chase their women away. Luckily the majority of Gypsy men side up with the women, and offer them shelter under a bridge. An envoy of Pierre's father finds and saves him.
