Such meetings may be literary affairs, dances, musicales, club dinners or smokers. They involve for the architect provision of such hall accessories as checking space, retiring rooms, acoustics, seating space, storage for chairs, suitable lighting, adequate ventilation and perhaps the use of an upper story. In no sense, however, should the fundamental idea of the restaurant be sidetracked for any of these other elements, nor should the establishment be cluttered with functions belonging to other park structures. Their function is merely to augment the income by which the success of the establishment is necessarily gauged and their consideration in advance is urged because the lay of the land or the working out of the design may offer special facilities for their incorporation.
