Description

An inability to control his fantasies sends Gilbert Pinfold, a well-known author, cruising on a Ceylon-bound liner to recuperate. But to his horror the hallucinations increase and life on board becomes very embarrassing. This curious and diverting novel throws new light on Evelyn Waugh's remarkable talent. This new edition will not include the two short stories in the earlier edition (182500). For the time being there are no plans to republish "Tactical Exercise" and "Love Among the Ruins" though they might at some stage be included in a new volume of Evelyn Waugh's short stories (js 16/5/97).
