The suprachoroidal space is opened and the sclera incised at a point where it is thinner than at the spot where a sclerotomy is ordinarily made. Schiotz believes that the effect of Bjerrum's operation is due to the formation of a filtering scar. Vollert has employed Holth's iridencleisis antiglaucomatosa for a number of years, and recommends it as the best operation for the relief of glaucoma. To avoid the danger of infection of an eye through the cystoid scar, a transplantation of a flap of conjunctiva after Kuhnt's method could be practised. In the Year Book for 1907, page 200, Lagrange's method of performing iridectomy and sclerotomy is referred to. This author continues to advocate his method.' Since he placed on record 15 cases in 1906; he has operated on 15 more, 5 of which he reports, the remaining 10 being of too recent occurrence. In the 15 observations already published, the visual field had not been improved in two instances, visual acuity was manifestly improved three times, while in all others it was maintained. In the 5 cases reported in the present communication, the visual acuity was decidedly 3, while in one it became worse, owing to the development of a cataract. In the remaining case the vision prior to the operation was maintained. He believes the operation is a useful one. H. Herbert describes an operation designed to establish a filtering cicatrix in which the incision is associated with the ' isolation of a single wedge of cornea-scleral tissue.
