For instance, the number of school children to be affected by sickness in 1900 is 5 per cent. Less than in 1887. With this in mind, it becomes of interest, how ever, to find from a table published by the registrar-general in the report for 1900, that the following results, as regards total deaths, have been obtained during the school ages, 5-15, during which most contagious diseases occur.
