Not illustrated. 1906 edition. Excerpt: ...building must be surrendered to the purchasers in June, 1909. The plans and a full description of the new building were published in June, 1907, in a special number of the Bulletin. 1 From the actual figures for 1905 there have been deducted 20,000, and from those for 1906, 12,500, the estimated number of admissions of pupils of the school. Such admissions have not been counted since October 1, 1906. The estimated cost of the new building, including moving, installation, and a moderate allowance for extras is.............. $1,573,000 The net amount to come from the sale of the present lot and building, after payment has been made in full for the new lot on the Fenway and Huntington Avenue, is about..... 487,000 leaving to be otherwise provided........ $1,086,000 Generous friends of the Museum have already given and promised to the Building Fund. 462,350 1 To pay in full for the new building, installation, and moving, there is therefore needed... $623,650 Valuable assistance in obtaining subscriptions has been given by a committee consisting of Messrs. Holker Abbott, Robert A. Boit, George B. Dorr, A. F. Estabrook, T. B. Fitzpatrick, Francis L. Higginson, Wallace L. Pierce, A. Shuman, and S. D. Warren. Of this Committee the President was Chairman. In the opinion of the Committee any further efforts to increase the building fund would be unwise until the condition of the financial markets has decidedly improved. At an appropriate time in the future a public appeal for subscriptions will be made. The Committee believes that the response will be generous, not only from those who frequently visit the Museum, but from those who feel civic pride in the excellence of its collections and in its educational work.
