"Aunt Susan, do you know how much Attie weighs?" he asked. There was no reply. She tried hard not to seem amused. "But really, do you not want to know?" Gordon persisted. Still she did not reply. Gordon relapsed into silence also; took out his pocket-book and began to examine its contents. He was only waiting for the question which presently came, "You may as well tell us as you want to, how much he does weigh." "I cannot," was the imperturbable reply. "I never weighed him." Miss Cameron put up her hand to slap her nephew's cheek. Even she was won out of her demure way by his fresh and boyish mischief. And oh, were not the children delighted! To see the tall spare figure of their grave elderly aunt pursuing the young man, who twisted and turned like an eel, and doubled like a fox, round and round the gravelled path, caused them to be convulsed with laughter. "Oh, Gordon," cried Attie as he cast himself down at last upon the smooth grass, "I never thought you would make us laugh like this...".
