Review Text

This large book offers commentary on the thirty-six books of the Old Testament through an examination of selected passages for the inner meanings of important words and phrases in the light of their Aramaic origins. The author sees the Bible as having been written in the language of the Semitic peoples "by the holy prophets who were inspired by God." The deeper meanings of that language have been preserved in ??Aramnio culture up until this century, and the author draws upon his own Near East origin and experience to select passages and interpret key words and expressions. The material is arranged in the order of the books of the Old Testament. A cross-reference to key words and ideas would have made the book of increased value to the user. (Kirkus Reviews)
