There was a company of that kind chartered, and according to this correspondence the application was I never Not at all. Mr. Gra perhaps we may not be able to get at the bottom of it--it occurred to the parties who were interested in this matter that it would be better for future proceedings to be carried on in some other way; and so we find that Mr. Graham, who had been engaged for some months in St. John in making arrangements for the erection of this plant or the perfecting of this plant, has made some arrangement with the New iBl'llllSWiCk Cold Storage Company, and he writes to the minister asking that the name of that company be substituted for that of the Canadian Produce & Cold Storage Company. And so the agreement is prepared, executed and carried out. Now, it does seem to me, without treating the matter further, that the written evidence and the facts that are beyond any question or dispute, show as clearly as the noonday sun that Mr. Williams and the Canadian Produce & Cold Storage Company were not treated in the Same way-that the latter was treated most favourably and with every consideration by the Department of Agriculture. while Mr. Williams was discouraged, if not in every possible way. in a suflicient way to prevent him from putting in any plans and specifications, thus afiording some peg on which the hon. Minister could hang his hat if the matter ever came under discussion in this House. Another feature 01' the matter is connected with the absorption of the Can adian Produce & Cold Storage Company. Failure had followed the effort to raise funds in the old country, and who was here in this company who had the financial backing to carry on more
