The Odd Tales of an Old Man
Connor Enright answers to no one...until now. His no-show mother suddenly wants to introduce him and his spacey younger brother to her estranged father wasting away in a nursing home. Connor reluctantly agrees to get it over with and get his mother off his back. How bad could it be? His Grandpa Lingus turns out to be an old curmudgeon who punctuates his insults with forced small talk, but the defiant Connor is up to the challenge. Lingus conveys life wisdom in dramatic fashion through creepy tall tales in an attempt to reach his wayward grandsons, and Connor finds that he has met his match in this feisty old man. As he begins to question if the yarns are indeed fiction, he wonders if Lingus actually understands him more than anyone he knows. A clash of generations fraught with conflict, suspense, and chills, the story climaxes when Connor encounters one of the ghastly characters from his grandfather's so-called tales and questions the direction of his life. But is it too late?
